How to Avoid Website Mistakes that Scare Visitors Away

Common Website Mistakes While Designing

Go ahead and build a navigable site, but do not increase the file size in doing so. The most popular and important pages should be fast and easy for the visitor to access. Having direct links to all your sub-pages from the main or Home page reduces the amount of clicking required to access pages. Ensure that every page has links back to your Home page. Visitors may be irritated if unwanted animations are placed on the page. Ensure you’re your pages are clutter-free. These are primary examples of website mistakes made by the majority of webmasters at one time or another.

Physically challenged visitors should also be able to utilize your web site. Visually challenged visitors should be provided with speech synthesizers and font sizes and colors as well as making sure that all images are alt (alternate text) tagged. Speech synthesizers can’t read images - they read only text. Only if the ALT tag code is included can they read text displayed as images.

Ways to Avoid Website Spam

How to Avoid Website Spam

We need to follow certain rules and guidelines to SEO, Black hat and white hat aside. With On-page, the SEO work is done by optimizing the keywords on the site. With off-page generating back links is also another major aspect in SEO tasks.

Experts say that too much focus of any one element can also be harmful. Many top-dog seoers are rethinking strategy that suggests “less is more”. For example if you use too many keywords in your content you’ll almost certainly get caught in the LSI algorithm. This amazing Google technology focuses on keeping the Google index clear of spam and duplication. Although its true functions are kept secret by Google many experts in LSI explain its nature and primary goals in more detail. With keyword stuffing the pattern becomes cyclic and very easy to spot by Google. One of the best ways to get to the top search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN is to write unique and expert content while maintaining and over-all keyword density of 2.9 %. If you exceed this threshold search engines (especially Google) will notice your website and effectively consider that you are spamming. There are many other factors that may trip a spam filter as well.

How to Market your Online Business

Internet Marketing 101

I. Introduction

Millions of people all over the world have access to information at their finger tips through the World Wide Web. This has paved the way for low costs in disseminating information to all those who need it. This in turn has elicited information quickly, and brought about instant response from buyers and sellers. Thus Internet Marketing is creating awareness of products and services online over the internet. This is a co-ordination of creative and technical aspects on the internet. An organization develops and promotes itself using online means of storing and disseminating data. It is not just a question of building or promoting websites. These websites in the background are growing and advancing online organizations with achievable goals.

The various ways of creating awareness techniques implemented for online advertising products and services through websites are as follows:

  • Search Engine Promotion
  • Display Advertisement
  • E-mail Advertising
  • Affiliate marketing
  • Internet advertising
  • Blog Promotions

The one great advantage of online advertising is consumers attain large amounts of information through the Internet. They can research products through the Internet on a global basis, and if satisfied can purchase or sell the required products at any time suitable for them. Unlike offline promoting, the consumer does not have to go to a particular shop personally and waste valuable time, purchasing the product and take it along with them. Home delivery is a great advantage in Internet Marketing too. To site an example, people on the lookout to buy or lease property need not go physically and search all over the city, town or countryside. All information can be found on the Internet on websites such as RealEstate.com. They can sift through them at their convenience, bring down their search criteria and go to the selected sites, which they have decided on.

December ‘Rise To The Top’ Wrapup

It has been an interesting start of the year to say the least!

We have already had a Google Update and it seems like the organic world is getting more and more theme based! What does this mean? It simply means that Google is becoming more and more interested in discovering the "theme" of your website and will do this by indexing the synonyms to all of your content to help them ensure they are giving the best results possible.

What else?

It seems like Facebook is yielding fantastic conversions in Google’s traditional Pay Per Click style. This is the first real manageable and instantly effective alternative I have seen outside of the traditional pay per click methods found within Google Adwords, Yahoo! Search and MSN AdCenter. Congrats to Facebook for launching a simple interface that will surely become more and more intuitive.

Internet Marketing Through SEM

Banks are now offering online banking services through which one can pay online for various purchases or services offered. Nearly 40% of the consumers chose to do online banking than the traditional one.

E-Auctioning is an upcoming trend being followed. Rare items found in the flea markets are now found online, ready to be sold. This has given the sellers a wider market where the prospective buyers can have a look at the product before they actually buy and also compare prices if they like to.

Another upcoming trend is the online advertising. More and more sellers are advertising online to get a better hold on the prospective buyers. This has also boosted the popularity of the websites (where such products are sold).

The Importance of Web Analytics

One of the most important crystal balls for small businesses online is web analytics. The reason that I personally rank this as the one of the most important tools is you can leverage it to look into the minds of your visitors. You can see what they are thinking and take action based on the cold hard facts that you gather by analyzing your data. Do you still wonder why web site analytics is so important to your success? Let me explain about the next generation of business-to-business analytics program that will change the way you do business online. You will learn that visitors come through main resources such as search engines by using keywords referring to websites then they will click the direct link to your site. Once they enter your site you will learn all you want to know about tracking your visitor using web analytics.

Options for improving traffic to your web-site:

1) Open an account with Google AdWords and pay for your visitors
2) Learn about your visitors that land on your site naturally and ultimately formulate a method of higher conversion.
3) Combine both of the above.

Analytic methodologies will help you track the important metrics to learn more about visitors value time spent on your website.

It’s All In The Internet Marketing Plan

Just getting found on search engines is often why clients come calling us. I have had several meetings this month with prospective clients that (after our discussions) have gained a very clear understanding of internet marketing and the full impact it can have on a company. Businesses mostly call us to gain better rankings or increase spending limits on the pay per click or email marketing campaign. The real secret to improving your return on investment, however, is improving the conversion rates of your website. By employing a simple 3 step strategy (along with some incredible online intelligence) it is more than easy to improve your online sales generation and/or leads simply by having a well constructed internet marketing plan in place.

Our own strategy works like this:

1) Planning & Analysis – This is almost always the most overlooked portion of an internet marketing plan. Why build a website if you don’t have an indication on who your real visitors are in the first place? Using Google Analytics, it does not have to be a guessing game. Every idea, and every decision can be substantiated by numerical evidence. An effective website conversion audit can ensure the success of your website plan before it even gets constructed. This of it like building your dream home. Before getting it built you first need to have a dream and then a capable architect to put that dream to plan.

November Rise to the Top Wrapup

A notable month for TechWyse. Not because of any outstanding account achievement, or our usual remarkable progress in innovation. The month that just past (for me personally) included a great deal of education discussing website conversion. In fact, it prompted me to write an article about it!

Here are some of the high lights for the month for us ‘WyseGuys’ (and ‘WyseGals’!)

  • Our VP Operations and Web Development manager concluded a successful trip to our production centre, TechWyse International, located in India. Every trip is about education, organization and improving our everyday processes. The trip was a success and is growing evidence of the increasing success we are having in both website development and search engine marketing today.
  • Our new TechWyse Client Centre! We have been talking about this one for a while. It is not just a simple login area for clients to view reports. The client centre will include, a fully interactive lead management system, CRM, reporting for organic optimization, pay per click and integrated Google Analytics. It also will provide statistical summaries outlining the progress on marketing campaigns. We will be officially releasing this to our client base in January!
  • We will also be launching our internet marketing innovations portal in the coming months. A place to show off our latest additions to the industry, communicate and interact! Stay tuned.

New Website launches include:

  • GiftcraftGiftcraft – the first phase of several. The site was built to display the vast amounts of inventory the company sells to its wholesalers. As a graphical rich website, the challenge was implementing a site that allowed for effective visual representation while at the same time gave the administrator the ability to easily add product lines, and images to the company photo gallery. The second phase to this project will include a fully interactive back office component which will allow the user and community to interact and improve company automation. Exciting. Go ahead and visit the site!
  • Soma GrandSoma Grand - An campaign built for international markets spun off in November. The purpose of the campaign is to develop a market for international investment in what is considered one of the finest development, condiminium buildings in San Francisco. Visit the site!

  • Cameron Palm SpringsCameron Palm Springs - Also launched was a property development marketing campaign for "The Cameron", a South Palm Springs ‘Urban Village’. Featuring a purpose built test interface which will change over the coming months dependant on controlled variables found in Google Analytics, the site will be a centrepiece for the effects of statistical analysis and its effects on an internet marketing campaign for a land developer. Visit the site!

The company is excited about its progress over the coming months. We also wish to remind all of our client base that while we will be checking our emails, the Canadian office will be closed for most phone activity during the Christmas to New Years 2007 break. (but we will be checking email and continuing with our ongoing website projects in the background!)

The entire company would like to extend a big Happy Holiday’s to both all of its blog and email subscribers and will look forward to interacting with many of you in 2008.

Tracking and Monitoring Search Patterns

E-commerce or business on the web is not to be considered a silo, but part of the larger eco-system of offline and online efforts to promote brand awareness, improve customer service and drive sales.

Armed with a succession of tools that flaunt sophistication to report on every conceivable action of visitors on websites, their likes and dislikes, companies are beginning to effectively track and monitor the search patterns of their online visitors.

October Rise To The Top Wrapup

There have been many developments both at TechWyse and the online marketing world in the month of October 2007.

Internet Marketing News

Microsoft slyly purchased 1% of Facebook for a cool $250 million dollars. That puts the value of Facebook (started in February of 2004 as www.thefacebook.com) at $15 billion! Why did Microsoft pay this sum? Stay tuned for my blog on this later in the month, but lets just say that Microsoft didn’t make a stupid decision.

• Google Update – A bigger update seemed to happen in October. The biggest visual effect, however, was a change in the Google PageRank system. It is the first large scale PageRank update that I have seen in quite some time. Most of my colleagues in the Toronto region seem to have noticed the same thing. Above and beyond this, another rumour of the latest update has been the valuation of links to blogs. Don’t get me wrong — search engines still love blogs, but the latest update from what I can see does seem to place different weight on blogging and social networking sites. Just my own thoughts though!
